A little fairy home by a stream, complete with glow in the dark lights on the roof. This tiny newborn Dragon has been left for the fairies to look after as her mother is unable to. Too tiny to even have a name yet, she relies on someone taking her in and caring for her until she is bigger. | Petra is from the Shadow Dragon Clan, and is proudly showing off her newborn son Piwi. These are my latest polymer clay creations, I really hope you like them, keep an eye out for more on the way. | Orris the Owl, he has a partner in crime, and I fully intend attaching both him and his buddy to a pretty box for my version of the Owl and the Pussycat |
Hey all, cant believe its nearly a fortnight since I last updated my blog. So, I have been very busy preparing for my first craft fair of the festive season which is in 2 days. Also, been getting Christmas shopping done, and acquiring proper precious gemstones including Black Diamonds!!!!! So I made this today, this is my Hero piece, Sterling and Fine Silver with genuine Black Diamond small nuggets. Am so in love with this piece, but sadly I cant afford to keep it. Please wish me luck for my craft fair on saturday, I have everything crossed that i make some sales, and get some good networking done. See you in a few days. TTFN.......

Oh god isn't it grim???? What a grotty wet sunday it is. Ho Hum, more excuse to stay inside and create. I am preparing for my first craft fair of the season, in just under a fortnight so have been busy making goodies, as well as doing a few commissions this last week. They look so pretty together. I have Rose Quartz and Prehnite as well so may well be making a few more like these. Glorious weather today, am in jeans and t-shirt and its lovely and warm, even outside. I have a load of washing blowing on the line, there is music playing, the dog is chilling in the garden and I am happy. Took a fantastic picture of my cat yesterday, also enjoying the sunshine lol. So anyway, on to what I have been doing. I discovered a tutorial that has been sitting in a folder for ages, so yesterday after walking 4 miles with the dog, I decided to sit down and give it a go. Now, they are not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but I enjoyed making them. The middle one sold within minutes of my putting it onto facebook which I am really pleased about, and the Garnet one on the right is a more special one, I made this one today and its made with Silver filled wire. I have Sterling Silver on order to make really precious ones, lots of gorgeous beads including Aquamarine, Carnelian, Pearl and Rainbow Coated Haematite, and am also planning to make little tiny ones with 2-3mm beads for bracelet charms and earrings. Must get on,
It can't possibly be October already????? Oh it can, ok then. I guess there are only just over 4 weeks to Halloween, and in exactly 12 weeks it will be Christmas eve. That's scary stuff. So, on to my makes, today was this pendant made with Multi Coloured Sapphires and Sterling Silver. I remade it about 4 times as I couldn't get it to work, but I got there in the end thankfully, this will be going into my Christmas Crackers, and my Birthstone pages so keep a look out. And so, this is it for now, I am still recovering from minor surgery so having plenty of time to make goodies, and am enjoying watching the leaves fall whilst I work, it will be Christmas before we know it. TTFN..........
Still not sure what to do with this piece, its an Amazonite donut pendant with a simple 2x2 chain maille weave. Inspiration appears to be totally evading me, I had plenty when I started the chain maille, but it has run away to join the circus I think. I will sleep on it, and try again tomorrow I think. TTFN Well, the weather has turned, and you can tell that the festive season is beginning by the fact that 6 out of the 7 people living in my house are full of colds, including myself. My 14 year old son is in full on man flu mode, my 8 year old daughter cant stop sneezing and the rest of us are in various states in between. Only the youngest girl has so far avoided the plague, and has been bouncing around like she is on coffee. Despite having a stinking cold, I am feeling somewhat festive this week, and am working on designs for my Christmas Crackers page, shopping for goodies for my kids, and trying to think of a colour scheme for my decorations. I thought this evening that I would share with you some funny photos of my silly pets as I am not getting much jewellery done, so here they are. Am going to disappear off to my sick bed now, and languish in its warmth. TTFN
What grim weather!!!!!! its been throwing it down all day nearly, and it does not inspire me to make pretty things. I did however almost finish my european 4 in 1 chain maille bracelet I have had to order some clasps for it, so it will sit in this state until they arrive. Also, I have been contemplating christmas, did you know its only 15 saturday's away? Scary thought huh? Well it scares me as I have so far made one piece for my Christmas range of jewellery, so I think I had better get my skates on. TTFN xxx
So, this is my first blog post. I dont really know what to write so I will jump in first with some basic info, and then tell you what I have been doing the last few weeks. I started Cherished Gems under a different name in August 2011, almost exactly a year after my beloved Grandmother passed away. My Nan was an avid crafter, into card making and paper crafts, knitting, crochet, sewing, quilting and bakery to name but a few of her loves. I can remember her making me clothes as a child, and indeed still have the clothes she made for my own children in more recent years. She introduced me to the world of crafting, starting with baking and papercrafts. I moved on to jewellery in early 2011, and have loved it ever since. Here are some examples of my early craft work: Whilst I still adore baking, my card making stash has been cleared out to make room for my hoard of jewellery making goodies. Here is my lovely little studio: (looking very tidy for once) Anyway, on to more recent things. I quickly developed a love of wire, and wirework, and although I still love doing this, my currently trend is chain maille. here are some pictures of pieces I have made, including one I am still working on. |
About MeI am a mother of 4, and have been making jewellery now for about 4 years. Cherished Gems was established in 2011. Archives
