About Cherished Gems.
I live in Gloucester with my partner, my four wonderful (and slightly quirky) children, my Dalmatian Willow and an evil tabby cat who loves to chase my wire. I have been making jewellery for about 4 years now, and have dabbled with many mediums such as resin, friendly plastic, glass etc, but gemstones (especially shiny ones) and wire remain my favourite things to use.
My inspiration to begin crafting came from my Grandmother, who always had a project (or several) going, and was always willing to sit and explain it to me. She taught me to bake as a child, then to make cards as a young adult. Jewellery came about quite by chance, working with friendly plastic to make embellishments for my cards, I suddenly realised it could be used for jewellery. I bought some basic findings, and have taken off from that point. I still love to bake, although my cardmaking enthusiasm seems to have diminished lately.
Sadly my Grandmother passed away in August 2010, but I am determined to continue in her legacy as an avid crafter and teacher.
